History

History

The history of our religious province begins in 2003 with the first foundation of the Institute of the Incarnate Word in Northern Europe, more precisely in Lithuania. For this reason our Province was placed from the beginning under the patronage of Our Lady, "Mary, Gate of Dawn", whose image is venerated in the city of Vilnius (Lithuania).

In 2004, a foundation was begun in the south of the Netherlands, and in 2005, another foundation in the south of the Netherlands. In 2005 a foundation was also begun in Iceland. In 2009, a mission was begun in Germany in the diocese of Berlin, and in 2015, another foundation in Bavaria. In 2016, a new foundation began in Scotland, and we went from being a Delegation to being a Province. In 2017 we arrived in Luxembourg and in 2019 our missionaries began their presence in Ireland.

Because of the diversity of the cultures and languages included in our Province, the activities as a whole are limited to Youth Days (which have been held once a year since 2014), some pilgrimages, and other encounters with young people and families. The other apostolates of the Province are described in the presentation of each mission where you can also find photo galleries and the necessary information to contact or visit our missionaries.
